Healing Testimony

My story begins 16 years ago when I first got sick. Up till then, I had rarely been ill for any reason, almost never went to the doctor, occasionally to a chiropractor. This illness wasn’t like anything I was familiar with, I couldn’t sleep because my nerves were so on edge I felt like I was vibrating, but then had trouble staying awake during the day and would pass out on the floor, partially conscious. I had multitudes of tests and nothing conclusive was found, just the blanket diagnosis of Fibromyalgia and Hypothyroidism.

Treatment seemed to work and I was somewhat back to normal for quite a few years. Then about 7 years ago, I got sick again, but it was much worse this time. I would have several episodes each week of a paralyzing seizure, but not like anything I had heard of. My body would slowly seize and then hold that for an hour to four hours. I would be so tired for several days after and the depression made it very difficult to work. I wasn’t sleeping again and quality family time was non-existent. God took me on a path to finding the right treatment that put me in remission after I had finally been properly diagnosed as late stage or stage 4 Lyme disease. Long term side effects were arthritis in my hands, nerve pain in my lower joints, muscle pain and weakness on a daily basis.

I had never asked to be healed, just felt that I was controlling it through diet and as long as it wasn’t like it had been, I was okay.

After attending a prayer retreat at Apple Hill Lodge in Moravian Falls, NC, where God showed up in a huge way and changed my life, I was sharing with Nancy and looking for direction. She shared the insight that I was looking for my tribe, but also that it was time for me to be healed and set free. She started praying for me and naming different things that needed to be healed. I didn’t really feel anything right away, but my hands did get really cold, which isn’t normal for me. When she finished praying, I shared that I had this sense deep in my body that something had been fighting to stay and didn’t want to be removed. It seemed to have left, but I knew there was more I needed to deal with. Nancy shared how to take authority over any signs of returning issues and rebuke them immediately before they had a chance to take hold. After we hung up, I started praying and asked God for help to remove what was left inside of me. I started naming each area that needed to be healed and rebuking the illness and repented for not having asked God sooner to be healed and not trusting that He would heal me. Again, I felt something fighting to not be removed from my body and I started gagging and felt like I was going to throw up. I kept praying and finally that ceased, but I knew there was more inside that needed to be dealt with.

I needed to shower before heading out that evening, so once I got in the shower, I started praying again and asking God to step in as I knew I would need help getting this last remnant removed. I kept praying and rebuking this thing fighting to be removed and all of the sudden I started dry heaving and retching in the shower. It seemed like it lasted forever, but I never threw up or had any stomach acid come up, even though I had just eaten. My stomach wasn’t actually heaving at all, but rather something deeper in my body. When it finally passed, I turned the water on hotter than I could stand to completely cleanse me from the inside out. Strangely my skin wasn’t red when I stepped out of the scalding water. I felt lighter, but couldn’t put my finger on it. As I was getting dressed I got a cramp in my foot which curled my toes, a normal occurrence, but I spoke rebuke to it and reminded my foot that it wasn’t allowed to do that anymore. I watched as my foot relaxed and my toes straightened out. I was in shock! I had never done that before and had it work!!

The next day I woke up feeling better than I had in a long time. I had a couple of times that day where a joint in my hand started to hurt with the familiar arthritis pain, but I grabbed that finger with my other hand and rebuked the pain and it subsided quickly.

In the days following, I have had minor pains that tried to start and I immediately spoke rebuke over them and they went away within seconds. I cannot remember this many days that I have lived pain free. It is the most amazing feeling. Knowing that because I have Jesus and Holy Spirit inside of me, I have the authority to rebuke any of this from returning. I don’t need someone else to do it for me. I just needed Nancy to show me how and to believe that God would help me and believe that God wants me to be healed and whole so I can be used by Him to fulfill the call He has on my life. Every day I wake up and thank God for my healing and keep speaking healing over my body. I am so grateful for what I learned at Apple Hill Lodge and from Nancy Brown. God has truly blessed her with a gift and I am blessed by her obedience to Him to share it.
